CAPCO’s Secretary-General An Qingsong was invited to attend the 8th Corporate Governance Seminar of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) on October 5th, 2012. Meanwhile, he also led a delegation to visit the Hong Kong Stock Exchange(HKEX), Hong Kong Institute of Directors, Phoenix TV, Asian Institute of Corporate Governance and the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies from October 5th to 9th.

Mr. An Qingsong delivered a keynote speech about Corporate Governance of Public Companies: Source of Investor Confidence at the seminar. The speech was highly approved by the participants. They all agreed that the activities of Advocating Best Practices for Independent Directors and Board of Supervisors was an effective way to combine international experience with Chinese reality in this regard.

Formed in 1949 as a branch of the ICSA, HKICS has in recent years concentrated very much on the role of the company secretary in the listed company environment. During SG An’s visit to HKICS, the subjects of examination system, membership management and continuous training were also brought upon for discussion.

“With the increasing number of mainland-registered companies, especially private enterprises being listed in Hong Kong, HKEX and Mainland regulatory agencies, Exchanges have enhanced cooperation progressively,” Head of Mainland Development of HKEX Yang Qiumei said. “HKEX will strengthen information exchange with CAPCO to get a better understanding of Mainland enterprises,” she added.

Through this visit to Hong Kong, CAPCO has enhanced mutual understanding with Hong Kong colleagues and increased the popularity of CAPCO.
